North West Department Of Arts, Culture, Sports And Recreation SMS Vacancies 2026 | Deadline: 24 July 2026

Opportunity Overview

The North West Department of Arts, Culture, Sports and Recreation is inviting applications for Senior Management Service (SMS) vacancies. The Department operates as an Equal Opportunity Affirmative Action Employer, committed to promoting diversity within its workforce.

The Department actively encourages representativity across various demographics, including race (White, Indian, Coloured, and African), gender, and disability. Individuals with disabilities are particularly encouraged to apply, as candidates whose appointment helps promote this representativity will receive preference.

Minimum Requirements

  • Prior to appointment for an SMS post, candidates are required to complete the Nyukela Programme: Pre-entry Certificate to Senior Management Services. This is an online course endorsed by the DPSA and the National School of Government (NSG). Details about this course are available on the NSG website.
  • Applicants with foreign qualifications must ensure these qualifications have been evaluated by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA). Proof of this evaluation report must be provided if the applicant is shortlisted.
  • People with disabilities are encouraged to apply.

How to Apply

To apply for these vacancies, please follow the steps below carefully:

  • Application Form: Complete the New Amended Z83 Form (No.81/971431), which must be signed, initialled, and dated. This form is obtainable from any Public Service Department or the DPSA website (www.dpsa.gov.za).
  • On the Z83 form, clearly indicate the post and the correct reference number.
  • Ensure Part A of the Z83 is fully completed. Parts B, C, and D may be left blank, marked as not relevant, or use dashes/N/A if they do not apply to you or the position. Parts E, F, and G do not need to be completed if your CV provides the required information. However, the question under Part F regarding conditions that prevent re-appointment is compulsory for applicants seeking re-employment into the Public Service.
  • Supporting Document: Attach a detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV). Your CV must clearly list positions held, the period in each position, and key responsibilities. It must also include details for three contactable referees.
  • Submission Method: Applications must be submitted physically.
  • Application Address:

Human Capital Management Department of Arts, Culture, Sports and Recreation 760 Dr James Moroka Drive Gaabomotho Building Mmabatho

  • For Attention: The Head of Department
  • Closing Date: The deadline for applications is 24 July 2026. Applications received after this date will not be accepted.

Please Note: Only shortlisted candidates will be required to submit certified documents, which must be provided on or before the day of the interviews. Shortlisted SMS candidates will be subjected to a technical exercise and an interview, and a maximum of three candidates will undergo psychometric assessments.
