Fact-Checking & Editorial Policy
Last updated: 1 January 2025
SetaJobs is committed to publishing accurate, verified, and helpful information for South African job seekers. This policy outlines our editorial standards and verification processes for all content published on our platform.
1. Our Commitment to Accuracy
We believe that inaccurate job information causes real harm — wasted money on transport, wasted time on applications, and disappointment for those who need opportunities most. That is why accuracy is our primary editorial value.
2. Job Listing Verification Process
Before any job listing is published, our editorial team verifies:
Source Authenticity
- We only list opportunities from verifiable, legitimate organisations
- Government positions are verified against official departmental websites (e.g., dpsa.gov.za, publicservice.gov.za)
- Private sector listings are verified via the company's official website or registered communication channels
- We do not publish listings that require upfront payment, as these are typically fraudulent
Content Accuracy
- Application deadlines are verified against the original source document
- Minimum requirements (education level, age limits, experience) are taken verbatim from the source or official circular
- Contact details (email addresses, portal URLs, physical addresses) are tested where possible
- Stipend amounts are taken directly from official documents and clearly marked as subject to change
Currency
- Listings are removed or marked as closed immediately when deadlines pass
- We conduct regular audits of published listings to check for changes
- Readers are encouraged to verify information at the source before applying
3. Informational Content (Guides & Articles)
All informational articles on SetaJobs:
- Are researched using primary government sources (DHET, Labour Department, SETA websites, NQF framework documents)
- Are reviewed for factual accuracy before publication
- Include source citations or links where applicable
- Are updated when policy changes occur (e.g., stipend increases, registration deadlines)
- Clearly distinguish between factual information and editorial opinion or advice
4. Use of AI in Content Creation
SetaJobs uses AI-assisted tools to help rewrite and structure scraped job data. Our policy requires that:
- No factual claims are introduced or altered by AI — the AI only restructures and improves readability of verified source data
- All AI-generated drafts are reviewed by a human editor before publication
- Stipend amounts, deadlines, and requirements are always taken from the source document and not generated by AI
- AI is never used to write informational or advisory content without human editorial oversight
5. Corrections Policy
We take corrections seriously. If you identify an error in our content:
- Email us at corrections@setajobs.co.za with the URL of the affected page and details of the error
- We aim to investigate and respond within 48 business hours
- Verified corrections are applied immediately and noted with a correction notice on the affected content
- We do not silently delete corrected content — the correction and its date are documented
6. Reporting Fraudulent Listings
If you believe a listing is fraudulent or scam-related, please report it immediately to report@setajobs.co.za. We take all fraud reports seriously and will investigate and remove any verified fraudulent content within 24 hours.
7. Editorial Independence
Our editorial decisions are not influenced by advertisers. Listings are not paid placements unless explicitly marked as "Sponsored". Our fact-checking process applies equally to all content regardless of commercial relationships.
