Opportunity Overview
The City of Johannesburg Metro has an exciting career opportunity for a permanent Social Auxiliary Worker within its Social Development Department, specifically in the Substance Abuse Unit. This position involves providing crucial ancillary services and support to individuals, families, groups, and communities through frontline services, administrative tasks, and community education initiatives. Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Grade 12 or an equivalent NQF level 4 qualification.
- A Social Auxiliary Work Certificate, recognised by the Health and Welfare SETA (HWSETA).
- Valid registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP).
- Between 6 to 12 months of experience in Social Auxiliary Work.
Key Responsibilities
The Social Auxiliary Worker will be responsible for a range of duties, including:
- Providing frontline services, which involve collecting biographical information, scheduling appointments, and preparing related documents.
- Offering administrative support for the systematic management of information.
- Engaging in community education and empowerment, actively participating in understanding community needs, assets, trends, and available support services for clients, as well as providing continued aftercare services.
- Providing practical and logistical support in preparation for outreach and educational programs.
- Participating in outreach services specifically aimed at substance abuse prevention.
- Maintaining stakeholder relationships.
