Opportunity Overview

Agriculture is seeking a dedicated Senior Driver Operator to join their team in Modimolle, Limpopo. This vital role is within the Infrastructure Support Directorate, focusing on delivering essential drilling and construction services to support agricultural development.

The position offers an annual stipend of R201 093 (Level 04) and is a re-advertisement. Candidates who have applied for this position previously are encouraged to re-apply.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this opportunity, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Education: Possession of an NQF Level 3 qualification (Grade 10 certificate).
• Experience: Five (5) years of driving, operating, and drilling experience.
• Licences & Certificates:
• A valid Code EC driver’s licence.
• A valid operating certificate.
• Skills:
• Good communication skills.
• Sound judgement skills.
• Excellent hearing and vision.
• Knowledge:
• Understanding of safety standards prescribed by statute.
• Knowledge of the correct use of tools and equipment.
• Ability to keep inventory and maintain equipment.
• Equity Target: Preference will be given to African Females and Persons with Disabilities.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of duties, including:

• Rendering production services related to drilling and construction.
• Producing boreholes and constructing agricultural infrastructure to specified standards.
• Preparing access roads at construction and drilling sites.
• Constructing, erecting, and repairing new and existing disease control fences.
• Drilling, testing, and repairing existing boreholes.
• Operating specialized drilling and earthmoving equipment.
• Transporting, loading, and offloading materials, goods, and equipment.
• Providing transportation for officials.
• Applying safety and precautionary measures diligently.
• Ensuring the maintenance of drilling and construction equipment.
• Ensuring compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act.
• Servicing construction and drilling equipment according to schedule.
• Performing quality assurance on serviced and maintained equipment.
• Cleaning and lubricating machinery and equipment.
• Inspecting and maintaining equipment and reporting any defects.
• Performing administrative and related functions, including keeping and maintaining job records/registers and log sheets for vehicles, drilling, and earthmoving equipment and machines.
