Opportunity Overview

Agriculture is offering a Campus Manager vacancy based in Stellenbosch, Western Cape. This role is a key position within the Directorate: Inspection Services, requiring a dedicated individual to oversee and manage a wide range of campus operations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the comprehensive management of infrastructure projects, support services, financial administration, and human resource development, ensuring the efficient and compliant operation of the campus. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced supervisor with a strong background in administration and infrastructure support.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Grade 12 Certificate
  • National Diploma in Administration (NQF6)
  • Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience in infrastructure support

Job Related Knowledge:

  • Public Service Regulations and departmental policies, prescripts, resolutions, delegations, and instructions relating to financial and personnel matters.
  • Administrative Public Finance Management Act (PFMA).
  • Administration procedures.
  • Procurement directives and procedures.

  • Capital Works Programme (Major and minor).

Key Responsibilities

The Campus Manager will undertake a variety of responsibilities, including:

  • Managing infrastructure projects and programmes support services.
  • Coordinating and monitoring day-to-day maintenance programmes and expenditure for fixed assets on the campus.
  • Facilitating, coordinating, and compiling needs assessments and maintenance schedules for capital works (major and minor capital projects).
  • Developing, implementing, and monitoring action plans for projects, routine activities, and risk management.
  • Providing advice on and ensuring adherence to public service and departmental policies and prescripts (e.g., PFMA, supply chain management, record management, housing and office administration, transport, human resources).
  • Ensuring the provision of adequate accommodation, housekeeping, transport, record management, maintenance, telecommunications, security, and driver/messenger services to the campus.
  • Managing financial, procurement, and asset management processes.
  • Providing support for budgeting and monitoring expenditure; identifying losses and reporting incidents (loss control).
  • Assisting managers with the auditing of all official internal registers (e.g., asset registers, maintenance and project registers, transport registers and logs).
  • Ensuring the management of the fleet of departmental vehicles, subsidized vehicles, and government garages, and reporting accordingly.
  • Coordinating, monitoring, and controlling the movement, maintenance, and safeguarding of assets.
  • Overseeing and monitoring Human Resource Management (HRM) related matters, including the filling of vacancies, training and development of personnel, performance management (EPMDS), and managing discipline within the division.
  • Ensuring the capacity and development of staff.
  • Ensuring the dissemination of information within the component.
  • Ensuring the filling, storing, and safekeeping of documents.
  • Developing and maintaining relevant databases.
  • Ensuring the development of electronic and manual filing systems for the component.
  • Handling customer queries.
