Opportunity Overview

Transnet is offering an 18-month Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Trainee Programme designed to provide students and recent graduates with practical workplace experience. This programme allows participants to apply their academic knowledge in a real-world environment, enhancing their employability through hands-on training, mentorship, and exposure to industry-specific tasks.

This opportunity is available at various Transnet locations, including Cape Town, Saldanha, Durban, Ngqura, and Port Elizabeth. The programme focuses on non-technical roles within Transnet's corporate centre.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this programme, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Hold a Matric certificate or equivalent.
• Have completed all theoretical subjects for N4, N5, or N6 in Office Management, Human Resources, Marketing, or Financial Management.
• Be a South African citizen.
• Be between 18 and 35 years of age.
• Have no existing bursary obligation with another company.
• Provide recent proof of confirmation or a letter from their educational institution.
• Submit certified copies of their Matric certificate, Academic Record, and Identity Document.
• Preference will be given to People with Disabilities.

Key Responsibilities

As a Work Integrated Learning Trainee, you will be involved in:

• Task Execution: Assisting in specific projects within a department or work-stream, performing routine operational tasks under supervision, and supporting administrative functions, including documentation and reporting.
• Learning & Development: Participating in training sessions, workshops, and mentorship programmes, shadowing experienced professionals to gain practical insights, and engaging in problem-solving activities to develop analytical skills.
• Communication & Collaboration: Interacting with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to understand business needs, providing regular updates on assigned tasks and project progress, and serving as a central contact point for queries and assistance.
• Research & Analysis: Conducting market research, data collection, and analysis to support business decisions, preparing reports and presentations using MS Office tools, and assisting in process improvement initiatives.
