Opportunity Overview

The South African Navy is offering an exciting opportunity for an Administration Clerk Supervisor within its Fleet Command Headquarters, specifically at the Inspectorate Naval Ordinance (INO) in Simon’s Town. This vital role involves overseeing and managing the comprehensive administrative and office support functions of the INO department.

As an Administration Clerk Supervisor, you will play a key role in ensuring the efficient operation of the office, from managing the registry to administering critical databases. This position is ideal for individuals with a strong administrative background and supervisory skills who are looking to contribute to the operational effectiveness of the South African Navy.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) or an equivalent qualification.
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in an administrative environment.
  • Essential Skills:
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, in English across all levels.
  • Solid knowledge of general office administration and the ability to operate and organise an office efficiently.
  • Proficiency in producing correspondence.
  • Competence in using MS Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service.
  • Capacity to conceptualise and initiate new, innovative approaches to optimise office administration services.
  • Strong supervisory, planning, organising, and problem-solving skills.
  • Good telephone etiquette and excellent typing skills.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of critical duties, including:

  • Managing the overall office support function of the Inspectorate Naval Ordinance (INO) office.
  • Overseeing the Administration Section within INO.
  • Handling all aspects related to the INO registry.
  • Administering all INO-related administrative functions.
  • Managing the South African Naval Ammunition Service Life Monitoring Database, including its restriction list.
  • Advising members within INO on changes concerning related functions.
  • Performing various divisional functions as required.
  • Administering the Work Attendance Register within INO.
