Opportunity Overview
The Department of Defence is inviting applications for an Administration Clerk position based in Pretoria. This vacancy offers an opportunity to join the public service in a vital administrative support role.
This is a full-time position with an annual salary ranging from R237,453 to R279,708 (Level 05). The successful candidate will be based at the Armscor Building in Erasmuskloof, Pretoria, contributing to essential government functions.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) or equivalent qualification.
- No prior experience is required.
- Computer literate (MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally.
- Possess analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrate good co-ordination, planning, and organising skills.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic knowledge of the Public Finance Management Act (PMFA) and Treasury regulations pertaining to procurement and expenditure control.
Key Responsibilities
The Administration Clerk will be responsible for a range of administrative and clerical duties, including:
- Providing general clerical support services such as recording, organising, storing, capturing, and retrieving correspondence and data.
- Updating registers and statistics.
- Handling routine enquiries.
- Making photocopies and sending or receiving facsimiles.
- Distributing documents and packages to various stakeholders.
- Maintaining the office filing system and typing letters or other correspondence.
- Keeping and maintaining incoming and outgoing document registers.
- Offering supply chain clerical support, including liaising with internal and external stakeholders for procurement, obtaining quotations, completing procurement forms, controlling office stationery stock, and maintaining asset registers.
- Providing personnel administration clerical support services, such as maintaining leave and attendance registers, keeping personnel records, and arranging travel and accommodation.
- Delivering financial administration support, which involves capturing and updating expenditure, checking subsistence and travel claims for approval, and handling telephone accounts and petty cash.
