Opportunity Overview

The Tshwane Automotive Special Economic Zone (TASEZ) is seeking an experienced Executive Manager for Zone Operations on a 5-year fixed-term contract. This pivotal role involves providing strategic and executive leadership for all operational aspects within the SEZ.

The Executive Manager will ensure the efficient, reliable, and compliant operation of all infrastructure, utilities, facilities, and services. This position is crucial for maintaining a high-quality operational environment that supports investor productivity, retention, and expansion, with a strong focus on engaging external stakeholders.

This role also contributes directly to TASEZ’s financial sustainability by optimising operational efficiencies, supporting revenue-generating services, and ensuring the cost-effective management of infrastructure and assets within the zone.

Minimum Requirements

Candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Qualification:
  • Bachelor’s Degree (NQF Level 7) in Operations Management, Infrastructure Management, Facilities Management, or a related field.
  • A Postgraduate qualification (NQF Level 8) in Operations Management, Business Administration, Infrastructure, or Facilities Management is an added advantage.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in operations management, infrastructure management, or industrial zone management.
  • At least 7 years in senior management or executive-level leadership.
  • Experience in industrial zones, SEZs, manufacturing environments, or large-scale infrastructure operations is highly advantageous.
  • Experience in stakeholder management within public-private environments.

Key Responsibilities

The Executive Manager: Zone Operations will be responsible for:

  • Providing strategic direction and oversight of all zone operations.
  • Ensuring effective operation, maintenance, and optimisation of all infrastructure and assets.
  • Delivering a high standard of operational support to tenants and investors.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety, health, and environmental (SHE) standards.
  • Contributing to financial sustainability through efficient cost management and revenue optimisation.
  • Providing executive oversight of service providers and contractors.
  • Leading strategic integration of surrounding communities into the SEZ ecosystem, promoting SMME participation.
  • Leading strategic engagement with external stakeholders, including government, regulators, and utilities providers.
  • Ensuring effective management of operational risks and implementing compliance and business continuity frameworks.
  • Ensuring alignment and coordination between Zone Operations and internal functions.
  • Managing people and developing capability within the operations team.
