Opportunity Overview
Transnet Engineering is seeking a dedicated System Analyst (BI) to join their ICT, Business Info Warehouse Development team in Kilner Park. This permanent position focuses on extracting critical Business Intelligence from a multitude of process data, enabling all Transnet Engineering business units to make informed decisions.
The role involves implementing robust solutions for the extraction, transformation, and loading of key data from various sources into target platforms. You will be instrumental in analysing and interpreting crucial reporting business requirements, converting complex data into actionable information that drives the business forward.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Education: A National Diploma qualification in Information Systems, Computer Science, or Information Technology.
- Experience (Option 1):
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in SAP BW.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the Microsoft Power Platform, particularly Power BI.
- Experience (Option 2):
- Minimum of 6 years’ experience in SAP BW.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the Microsoft Power Platform, particularly Power BI.
- Added Advantage: SAP Certification will be beneficial.
- Skills: Intermediate SQL coding skills, experience working with commercial BI tools (Power BI and SAP Webi are desirable), excellent research, analysis, and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding: A strong understanding of data design and development across systems for BI reporting, data integration, analytics, and data warehousing initiatives, as well as BI data governance and management.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Implementing solutions for the extraction, transformation, and loading of key data from various sources into target platforms.
- Analysing and understanding critical reporting business requirements and interpreting data for decision-making.
- Working with stakeholders to translate business problems into business intelligence data designs.
- Performing integration, transformation, modeling, and data validation.
- Using a standardised approach to achieve business goals.
- Performing SAP BW system configuration and development.
- Deploying development objects throughout the 3-tier landscape (Dev, QA, Production).
- Evaluating and improving existing BI systems.
- Developing and maintaining dashboards and reports used by management and operations teams.
- Composing functional and technical design documents where applicable.
- Developing User Manuals and providing training to ensure technical compatibility and end-user satisfaction.
- Mentoring and assisting junior developers.
- Adhering to practices for the business intelligence team, including SDLC, data integration, and change control.
- Collaborating with other developers and remaining abreast with new technologies within BI.
What the Work Involves
As a System Analyst (BI) at Transnet Engineering in Kilner Park, you will work within the ICT, Business Info Warehouse Development department. Reporting to a Systems Analyst, your daily activities will focus on the lifecycle of business intelligence.
