Opportunity Overview
The Department of Employment and Labour invites applications for a Senior Practitioner in Human Resources Management. This is a crucial role within the Provincial Office in the Western Cape, supporting the department's mission to foster employment and fair labour practices across the country.
This opportunity offers a three-year contract for an experienced HR professional to contribute to the strategic human resource functions of a key government department, ensuring efficient and compliant HR operations.
Minimum Requirements
- An undergraduate qualification in Human Resource Management or Public Management at NQF Level 6, as recognised by SAQA.
- A minimum of two (2) years of functional experience in a human resource management environment.
- Knowledge of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), Public Service Regulations (PSR), Public Service Act (PSA), Labour Relations Act (LRA), Employment Equity Act (EEA), PSCBC and CCMA Procedures, and Batho Pele Principles.
- Skills in Negotiation, People Management, Problem Solving, Presentation, Planning and Organising, Communication, Computer Literacy, and Report Writing.
- A Driver's License will be considered an added advantage.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor the recruitment and selection processes.
- Facilitate the processing and approval of service benefits.
- Provide and monitor the termination of service at the provincial level.
- Monitor the establishment and implementation of HR policies.
- Supervise human, financial, and equipment/asset resources within the Division.
What the Work Involves
As a Senior Practitioner, you will be based in the Provincial Office in the Western Cape, where you will play an active role in overseeing key human resource operations. Your day-to-day work will involve monitoring critical HR processes such as recruitment and selection to ensure they align with departmental policies and legislative requirements. You will also be responsible for facilitating and approving various service benefits for employees, as well as managing and monitoring the processes related to the termination of service within the province.
A significant part of your role will involve supervising the resources within your division, encompassing human resources, financial allocations, and equipment or assets. You will also monitor the established HR policies and ensure their effective implementation, contributing to a compliant and well-managed HR environment within the Department of Employment and Labour.
