Opportunity Overview

The South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) is offering a valuable Trainee Inspector position focused on Non-Scheduled Operations and General Aviation, based in Centurion. This role provides an opportunity to gain essential training and experience within the aviation security sector.

As a Trainee Inspector, you will be developed to regulate and monitor aviation security standards and practices. This includes ensuring full compliance with critical regulations such as Part 114 of the Civil Aviation Regulations (CARs) and the National Aviation Security Programme (NASP).

This position plays a key role in promoting aviation security across the country, contributing to the effectiveness of measures in place and upholding national aviation safety standards.

Minimum Requirements

  • A National Diploma in Administration or a relevant equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in Aviation Security or a related field within Airport, Airline/Air Carrier, or Regulator operations.
  • Added Advantages:
  • A Degree in Risk or Security Management, or a relevant equivalent degree.
  • A Certificate in Airline/airport operations or the management of aviation security operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform oversight and surveillance activities to meet requirements detailed in SACAA Policies, the NASP, and Civil Aviation Regulations.
  • Provide recommendations to clients for resolving identified security deficiencies and for continuous improvement.
  • Evaluate and validate operator Security Programmes for Air Carriers, Aerodromes/Airports, and General Aviation.
  • Conduct follow-up inspections/audits to validate the effectiveness of corrective measures and ensure the closure of oversight processes.
  • Enforce applicable regulations and pursue legal enforcement when warranted.
  • Assist in the development and amendment of Aviation Security Regulations, Technical Standards, and the National Aviation Security Programme (NASP).
  • Liaise and consult with internal and external stakeholders regarding aviation security related matters.
  • Perform general job-related and office administration, including maintaining an accurate database for aviation security non-compliances and a repository of AVSEC documents.
