Opportunity Overview

Sanlam invites applications for its REMS Consultant Internship Programme, located in Cape Town. This internship provides an opportunity to gain practical experience within the financial services sector, focusing on the administrative and operational aspects of contracting, remuneration, funds, schemes, commissions, and replacements.

The programme is designed to equip interns with the skills to deliver professional and effective services. Interns will support SanlamConnect intermediaries and other life companies, ensuring that tasks are completed to high standards of quality and within specified timelines, all while adhering to business and legislative requirements.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this internship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Hold a Grade 12 certificate.
  • Have completed and be in possession of a 3-year National Diploma or Degree in Commerce / Finance.
  • Be currently unemployed.
  • Preferably have no or very limited previous working experience.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and experience in MS Office applications (e.g., MS Excel, MS Word, Outlook).
  • Show an interest in the Financial Services environment.
  • Possess key competencies including resilience, collaboration, customer focus, drive for results, decision-making, high work standards, information gathering, problem-solving, a commitment to continuous learning, and concern for accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

The successful intern will be involved in a variety of tasks, including:

  • Managing correspondence, administration, and ad hoc duties related to contracting, remuneration, funds, schemes, commissions, and replacements.
  • Providing professional and effective services to SanlamConnect intermediaries and other life companies.
  • Handling general and ad hoc requests from both the team and intermediaries.
  • Receiving and forwarding replacement forms to advisors and brokers.
  • Managing physical documents, including handling incoming work and distributing tasks.
  • Performing filing, scanning, data verification, transaction entry, and journal reconciliations.
  • Ensuring tasks are managed and completed within required Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Addressing requests and enquiries from clients, which may include telephonic and written communication.
  • Processing transactions in line with established policy, business rules, and relevant legislation.
  • Liaising directly with SanlamConnect staff, external partners, and institutions.
