Opportunity Overview
Sanlam, Africa's largest and most diverse non-banking Financial Services organisation, is offering an exciting 13-month Accelerated Development Programme. This opportunity is designed for soon-to-be or recent graduates to join the Sanlam Data, AI and Engineering Academy, formerly known as the Sanlam Data and Digital Academy.
Successful candidates will gain permanent employment from the outset, along with market-related benefits. The programme aims to build and develop essential technical, analytical, and business skills by engaging participants in real business problems within the Sanlam Analytics and Group Technology ecosystems. This includes hands-on experience with leading-edge technologies and exposure to Sanlam's expansion into a banking and lending partnership with TymeBank.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this programme, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Hold a BCom, BSc, BTech, or BEng degree in one of the following fields, or be on track to obtain one by the end of 2026:
- Information Technology
- Computer Science
- Data Science
- Data Analytics
- Business Intelligence
- Statistics

- Industrial Engineering

- Have no more than 12 months' related post-university professional working experience.
- Work experience obtained as part of a work-integrated learning programme will not be considered as professional working experience.
Key Responsibilities
As a participant in the Accelerated Development Programme, you will:
- Participate in a structured 13-month Accelerated Development Program.
- Work on real business problems within the Sanlam Analytics and Group Technology ecosystems.
- Apply your skills in designing and launching new capabilities or experimenting to deliver Minimum Viable Products (MVPs) and innovative client-centric products.
- Collaborate with experienced Sanlam employees.
- Receive ongoing technical training, real-world enterprise-level experience, business acumen, and competency-based training.
- Receive coaching and mentorship from subject matter experts in the Sanlam Technology and Sanlam Analytics Teams.
- Work cross-functionally and rotate to different IT and business teams.
- Participate in innovation competitions and tech learning days, such as the SGT data day and hackathons.
- Engage in functional training with world-class facilitators and gain hands-on experience with leading IT & BI tools and technology.

This 13-month programme immerses you in the heart of Sanlam's data, AI, and engineering operations. You will actively contribute to real business challenges, applying your skills to develop new capabilities, launch innovative products, and experiment with groundbreaking solutions using leading-edge technologies.
You will work closely with experienced Sanlam employees, benefiting from coaching and mentorship by subject matter experts within the Technology and Analytics teams. The role involves rotating through various IT and business teams, providing broad exposure across different data and tech disciplines and fostering a diverse skill set. The working environment is professional, focusing on hands-on enterprise-level experience, continuous training, and participation in innovation events like hackathons.
