Opportunity Overview
Pick n Pay invites unemployed South African youth to apply for its UIF Learnership Programme. This initiative provides a valuable opportunity to gain practical retail experience and develop essential workplace skills. The programme runs for 6 to 12 months, combining two days of online learning with three days of hands-on, in-store practical training each week.
Participants will gain exposure to one of South Africa's leading retailers, enhancing their employability and career readiness within the retail sector. The programme focuses on developing skills in customer service excellence, retail operations, merchandising, stock handling, Point of Sale (POS) processes, and workplace professionalism. The learnership is offered at various Pick n Pay stores within the Gauteng region.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this learnership, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Hold a Grade 12 (Matric) certificate.
- Be an unemployed South African youth, aged 18 to 40 years.
- Demonstrate a passion for customer service and the retail industry.
- Possess good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Be willing to learn and develop new skills.
- Be reliable, punctual, and committed to completing the programme.
Key Responsibilities
Learners on the programme will be involved in various retail activities, including:
- Attending and completing all online learning modules and assessments.
- Participating fully in practical in-store training.
- Delivering excellent customer service to shoppers.
- Assisting with merchandising and maintaining store standards.
- Supporting stock replenishment and inventory activities.
- Following all company policies, procedures, and health and safety standards.
- Working collaboratively as part of the store team.
- Demonstrating professionalism, accountability, and a positive attitude throughout the programme.
