Opportunity Overview
The Passenger Rail Agency Of South Africa (PRASA) has two vacancies for a Specialist in Procurement Governance and Compliance. This role is crucial within the Group Procurement department, based at Umjantshi House, PRASA Head Office.
This opportunity focuses on providing expert, risk-based assurance for procurement governance and compliance activities across the entire PRASA Group. It is an integral position aimed at upholding high standards of compliance and ethical conduct within the organisation's supply chain processes.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this Specialist position, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- A Degree in Supply Chain Management, Law, Procurement, Auditing, or Risk Management.
- 8 years of experience in procurement, supply chain governance, compliance, or audit.
- CIPS or IIA membership would be considered an added advantage.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of duties, including:
- Providing technical advice on Supply Chain Management (SCM) and conducting Pre/Post award reviews related to procurement, governance, and compliance.
- Managing relationships with both internal and external providers to ensure excellent service delivery aligned with organisational goals.
- Delivering structured feedback to regions on compliance levels and identifying areas for improvement.
- Facilitating training and awareness sessions on procurement governance and compliance to promote consistent understanding of rules and controls.
- Offering specialist technical compliance support and advisory services to Bid Committees, ensuring adherence to applicable legislation, regulations, and SCM policies.
- Driving audit compliance by overseeing internal and external audit findings, ensuring prompt responses and effective development of control measures.
- Tracking national compliance performance and consolidating Group-level compliance reports.
What the Work Involves
As a Specialist: Procurement Governance and Compliance, you will be actively involved in ensuring that PRASA's procurement activities meet all legal and internal policy standards. Your daily work will include providing expert advice to various internal teams, engaging with external providers, and assessing procurement processes. You will also play a key role in educating staff through training sessions and supporting Bid Committees in their decision-making. Much of your time will be spent analysing compliance data, responding to audit findings, and compiling comprehensive reports from the Head Office environment.
