Opportunity Overview
Nedbank invites students to apply for its External Bursary Programme for the 2027 academic year. This opportunity is designed to support academically deserving students who have a proven financial need and are seeking to pursue higher education.
Bursaries will be awarded for studies towards a first Undergraduate or Honours degree or diploma. The programme focuses on key fields of study including Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), as well as Green Economy skills. Green Economy skills encompass areas that contribute to improving social well-being, promoting social equity, and significantly reducing environmental risks, such as lowering carbon emissions, preventing pollution, enhancing natural capital, and increasing efficiency in energy and materials.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for the Nedbank External Bursary Programme, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be a South African citizen.
- Be currently in Matric or have successfully completed Matric.
- Intend to study towards your first undergraduate or Honours degree or diploma in 2027.
- The chosen field of study must focus on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) or Green Economy skills.
- Be studying or have been accepted to study full-time at a recognised and accredited public University or University of Technology in South Africa.
- Maintain a strong academic record.
- Have passed Mathematics in Matric (Mathematics Literacy is not accepted).
- Achieved a minimum overall average of 65% for the 2026 academic year (at either Matric or University level).
- Achieved a minimum overall average of 65% for all subjects directly aligned to your University qualification.
- Demonstrate proven financial need, which will be assessed based on household income.
- If under 18 years old, you must have consent from your parent or legal guardian to apply for the bursary.
