Opportunity Overview

Amazon is seeking ambitious graduates and students to join their Talent Acquisition Team as Operations Interns. This programme offers an educational opportunity within Amazon's core Operations businesses, including Fulfillment Centers, Sortation Centers, and Delivery Stations.

As an Operations and Logistics Intern, you will gain insight into how managers lead and develop teams, engage Associates to reach their potential, and maintain a safe and productive environment. This internship places you at the heart of Amazon's operations, allowing you to experience the journey of a customer's order firsthand.

Minimum Requirements

  • A recent graduate OR currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree with a graduation date of 2027 (Q1).
  • Fluent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Available to complete a full-time, 12-month internship (40 hours/week).

Key Responsibilities

  • Dive deep into data, map processes, and identify problems.
  • Offer and test potential solutions, then implement the most effective ones.
  • Interact with highly efficient managers, technology development teams, and front-line Associates.
  • Think broadly about solutions to complex business and operational challenges.
  • Contribute to improving the functionality and service level of Fulfillment Centers, Sortation Centers, and Delivery Stations.

What the Work Involves

As an Operations Intern, you will apply your analytical skills directly to improving service delivery within Amazon's extensive operations network in Johannesburg or Cape Town. Your daily tasks will involve examining data, outlining operational processes, and identifying areas for improvement. You will then develop and test new solutions, ultimately implementing those that best enhance efficiency and customer satisfaction.

You will work closely with managers, technology development teams, and front-line Associates, collaborating to tackle some of the most complex challenges faced by one of the world's fastest-growing operations networks. Throughout your internship, you will be matched with a mentor, providing guidance and opportunities for both personal and professional growth within a real-world setting.

What an internship actually is

An internship is a fixed-term work-experience placement for someone who already holds a qualification. Unlike a learnership, it does not award a new qualification — its purpose is to convert a certificate, diploma or degree into the experience that entry-level adverts keep asking for. In the public service these run for a set term and are generally not renewable.

Watch out for this

Government internships are usually once-only: having completed one, you may be ineligible for another. Check the advert's exclusion clause before applying if you have interned before.
