This role offers the chance to contribute to innovative solutions in clean energy technology, working alongside experts to advance crucial scientific and engineering projects.

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum: MSc in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering. Ideally: PhD in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
  • Two (2) years of experience in PEMFC and/or PEMWE electrocatalyst development, or three (3) years of experience in a heterogeneous catalysis environment, with involvement in PGM-based electrocatalyst preparation, characterisation, and application.
  • Basic understanding and involvement in the scale-up of heterogeneous catalysts.
  • Knowledge or experience with SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, Quality) systems.
  • Relevant publications in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Ability to form collaborations with other institutions (universities, science councils, etc.).
  • Ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and organisational skills.
  • Attention to detail, ability to follow up, and take initiative.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop electrocatalysts for PEM electrolyser and/or fuel cell applications.
  • Conduct electrochemical and physicochemical analyses of electrocatalysts.
  • Contribute to PEM electrocatalyst research within the team.
  • Collaborate closely with the Fuel Cell manufacturing team for pilot production of certain MEAs using HySA catalysts.
  • Develop electrocatalysts with a view towards improving key performance and durability metrics.
  • Evaluate MEAs within single cells and stacks via a number of industry-standard protocols.
  • Regularly prepare intellectual property declarations for submission to NIPMO.
  • Demonstrate strong technical report writing abilities.
  • Ensure that projects are executed on time and within budget.
  • Ensure strict adherence to SHEQ procedures and maximum overall technical efficiency in project work.
  • Actively participate in the training, guidance, and motivation of junior staff.
  • Participate in team debates and technical decisions.
  • Produce professional reports, papers, and presentations at local and international conferences.
