Opportunity Overview

This opportunity is for a permanent Head of Office position based in the Johannesburg Local Office. The role offers development and career growth within an established legal institution.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Hold a legal qualification (LLB or B. Proc degree).
  • Be admitted as an Attorney or Advocate of the High Court of South Africa.
  • Possess at least 12 years of post-qualification legal experience.
  • Have a minimum of 10 years of post-admission experience, including at least four (4) years of court experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to train Candidate Attorneys.
  • Exhibit leadership and people development skills with a track record in training Candidate Attorneys and newly appointed legal practitioners.
  • Experience in budget preparation and management.
  • Advanced computer skills (Excel, Word, and Outlook) are an advantage.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to manage a diverse workforce.
  • Ability to plan, organise, coordinate, and present.
  • Good facilitation skills.
  • Ability to interpret and apply policies.
  • Innovative, creative, and analytical thinking skills.
  • Problem-solving and motivational skills.
  • Leadership and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining the infrastructure of the office.
  • Selecting Candidate Attorneys, legal practitioners, and administrative staff for the office.
  • Managing the functioning and administration of the office.
  • Managing the allocation of cases to private practitioners (Judicare).
  • Training and developing staff.
  • Ensuring sound management of the office’s finances and other assets.
