Opportunity Overview
The Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) is seeking a skilled Dealmaker to join their Agro team. This role involves evaluating and presenting funding applications, structuring impactful deals, and contributing to both unit objectives and industry development goals within the agricultural sector. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in performing financial, technical, and marketing due diligence functions, alongside identifying and mitigating potential risks associated with investments.
Minimum Requirements
- A relevant commercial or technical Honours degree is essential.
- Chartered Accountant (CA) or Agriculture qualifications will be advantageous.
- 5-8 years of related experience, with at least 2-3 years specifically in the assessment and closing of transactions (managing approved deals up to first drawdown, including timely conclusion of legal agreements).
- Must be declared competent in two due diligence disciplines (Marketing, Technical, or Financial) and grounded in one of these disciplines.
- Experience in the interpretation of financial statements.
- Knowledge of the financial products used by the IDC.
- Sector-specific knowledge would be advantageous.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate and effectively structure transactions using IDC financing instruments.
- Evaluate applications for finance by conducting financial, technical, or marketing due diligences and investigations.
- Design and negotiate financial, Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS), legal, and other relationships between the client and IDC for specific deals.
- Identify and mitigate risks, and actively participate in due diligences.
- Ensure deal alignment with the strategic objectives of the unit and contribution to industry development goals.
- Manage client accounts up to the first disbursement.
- Prepare and submit basic assessments and comprehensive credit proposals that meet IDC funding requirements.
- Ensure accurate client data management.
- Maintain meaningful relationships with enquirers, applicants, and portfolio clients in conjunction with IDC support functions.
- Effectively interact with different Strategic Business Units (SBUs) and departments to fulfill process requirements for business transactions.
- Manage and enhance service levels and communication to provide client service excellence.
- Liaise, communicate, and promote the unit externally.
- Drive and manage personal development to enhance competencies.
- Participate in knowledge sharing within the team and across functions.
- Mentor and coach Business Analysts.
