The Department of Employment and Labour, through its Compensation Fund in Pretoria, is seeking a dedicated individual for the role of Deputy Director: Admin Services. This is a vital leadership position designed to enhance administrative efficiency and stakeholder relations within the Fund.

This opportunity offers a chance to contribute significantly to the smooth operation of the Compensation Fund, ensuring its services align with national standards and legislative frameworks. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing crucial administrative functions and strategic relationships.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • A three-year tertiary qualification (NQF Level 6) as recognised by SAQA in Public Administration, Office Administration, Business Administration, or Management.
  • 5 years of functional experience in an executive support or administration services environment.
  • Of the 5 years’ experience, 2 years must be at an Assistant Director or entry management level.
  • Knowledge of: Compensation Fund regulations, policies and procedures, COIDA, relevant stakeholders, Customer Service (Batho Pele principles), technical knowledge, administration procedures and techniques, Fund Governance and Risk Management, budgeting and financial management, Public Service Act, PFMA, National Treasury Regulations, and Public Service Regulations.
  • Skills in: Planning and Organising, Communication (verbal and written), People and Performance management, Business Writing, Problem solving and analysis, Decision making, Analytical thinking, Conflict Management, and Team leadership.
  • Priority will be given to Persons with disability, Indians and Whites.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Managing and monitoring the effective implementation of Compensation Fund improvement initiatives plans.
  • Managing and strengthening sound relations between the Compensation Fund, the Ministry, Parliament, and other stakeholders.
  • Monitoring mutual association licence performance.
  • Managing resources within the sub-directorate.

What the Work Involves

As Deputy Director: Admin Services, you will oversee the implementation of critical improvement strategies for the Compensation Fund. A significant part of your role will involve fostering and maintaining strong working relationships with key external bodies, including the Ministry and Parliament, ensuring effective communication and collaboration. You will also be responsible for monitoring the performance of mutual association licences and for the comprehensive management of resources within your sub-directorate. This role is based in an office environment in Pretoria and requires a proactive approach to administrative leadership and stakeholder engagement.
