Opportunity Overview
The Department of Employment and Labour is offering a Graduate Internship programme through the Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF). This programme is designed to provide valuable work exposure to graduates in their respective fields of study.

Minimum Requirements
To be eligible for these internships, applicants must meet the following general criteria:

- Must not have previously participated in any internship programme, whether in the public or private sector.

Internship: Office Of The UIF Commissioner
- Education: National Diploma or Degree (NQF 6/7) in: Secretariat Studies / Office Administration / Office Management / Management Assistant
- Skills: Batho Pele Principles, Computer Literacy, Interpersonal, Communications, Listening, Customer Focused, Research, Analytical skills.
Internship: Audit / Governance Coordinator
- Education: National Diploma or Degree (NQF 6/7) in: Internal Audit / Auditing / Accounting
- Knowledge: Auditor General Processes and Procedures, Internal Audit Manual and Methodology, Public Service Act (PSA), Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), Public Service Regulations (PSR), Labour Relations Act (LRA), Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA), Unemployment Insurance Amendment Act (UIA), Unemployment Insurance Contributions Act (UICA).
- Skills: Communication, Computer Literacy, Time Management, Interpersonal, Report Writing, Planning and Organizing, Analytical, Creative, Facilitation, Presentation.
Internship: Compliance Support
- Education: National Diploma or Degree (NQF 6/7) in: Internal Audit / Auditing / Accounting
- Knowledge: Public Service Regulations (PSR), Public Service Act (PSA), Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA), Labour Relation Act (LRA), Employment Equity Act (EEA).
- Skills: Report writing, Policy Analysis, Development and Management, Computer Literacy, Communication, Research Methodology, Analytical and Creativity, Problem Solving, Presentation, Planning and Organizing.
Internship: Risk Management
- Education: National Diploma or Degree (NQF 6/7) in: Risk Management / Internal Control / Corporate Governance / Compliance / Public Management / Public Administration
- Knowledge: Risk Management Policies and Strategy, Batho Pele Principles, Anti – Fraud and Corruption Policies.
- Skills: Communication, Computer Literacy, Innovation/Creative, Presentation, Report Writing, Time Management Organizing and Planning, Problem Solving.
Internship: Internal Audit
- Education: National Diploma or Degree (NQF 6/7) in: Internal Auditing / Finance / Accounting / IT Auditing
- Knowledge: Evidence gathering and Audit Execution, Internal Audit Process, Treasury Regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Interns will gain practical experience by undertaking various tasks relevant to their specific roles:
Internship: Office Of The UIF Commissioner
- Provide secretarial/receptionist support services in the office of the UIC.
- Render administrative support services in the office of the UIC.
- Provide support in the management of the Commissioner’s diary, including the events calendar, and arrange meetings and workshops.
Internship: Audit / Governance Coordinator
- Assist internal and external audit coordination.
- Provide assistance in requests from external auditors.
- Assist the implementation of Audit Action Plans.
- Provide assistance in the implementation of the PROBITY process.
Internship: Compliance Support
- Provide assistance in the implementation of the compliance universe.
- Provide assistance in conducting the compliance Risk Assessment.
- Assist in implementation of the compliance plan.
- Provide assistance in reviewing of policies and procedures in line with compliance.
Internship: Risk Management
- Render support service in the implementation of risk framework/strategies.
- Participate in the conducting of research on aspects of risk.
- Provide support in the Risk Management programme through communication and training.
- Administer fraud account.
