The Department of Defence is inviting applications for twenty-five (X25) Accounting Clerk: Production posts within its Financial Management Division, specifically under the Directorate: Stores, Services and Related Payments (DSSRP). Minimum Requirements
- A minimum of Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) or equivalent qualification, with Accounting or Mathematics as subjects.
- No prior experience is required.
- A valid Driver’s License.
- Basic knowledge of financial and accounting processes.
- Computer literate in MS Office software packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to understand, interpret, and correctly apply financial policies and prescripts.
- Ability to effectively liaise and communicate with clients.
- Decisive and persevering in terms of task finalisation.
- Willingness to be detached to Satellite Offices across geographical boundaries.
- Basic knowledge of contract management and supply chain management processes.
- Sound knowledge and understanding of PFMA, Treasury Regulations, National Treasury practice notes on supply chain processes (PFMA, DORA, PSA, PPPFA, Financial Manual).
- Knowledge of basic financial operating systems (e.g., FMS, PERSOL, PERSAL, BAS, LOGIS).
Key Responsibilities
- Strictly apply financial policies, prescriptions, and regulations.
- Perform cashier duties, including paying out cash advances.
- Receive State monies and deposit them into the Paymaster General Account (PMG).
- Receive cash from clients, verify correctness of payments, and issue official receipts.
- Ensure accurate allocation of revenue.
- Prepare and capture deposits on the Financial Management System (FMS) in a timely manner, then securely dispatch deposits to the bank.
- Safeguard and issue Face Value Documents (FVD).
- Archive accounting documents and ensure the safekeeping of payment and other accounting documentation for audit purposes.
- Utilise the Financial Management System (FMS) for regularly recording accounting transactions and making enquiries.
- Administer claims on the central Advance System and capture all related accounting transactions on FMS.
- Confirm Telkom accounts and provide assistance with general administration and accounting functions at the FASC.
