Opportunity Overview

Clover, in partnership with the YES programme, is offering an exciting 12-month learnership opportunity for unemployed youth. This programme aims to provide valuable work experience within Clover's Secondary Distribution department.

Successful candidates will gain practical skills and contribute to daily operations at Clover's Atlas branches, forming a strong foundation for their careers.

Minimum Requirements

To be eligible for this learnership, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Be between 18 and 33 years old.
• Hold a Grade 12 / Matric qualification.
• Be currently unemployed.
• Not have participated in a learnership with another organisation previously.
• Demonstrate proactivity and an action-orientated approach.
• Possess the ability to achieve results effectively.
• Be a team player and able to collaborate with others to achieve common objectives.
• Show commitment and motivation.
• Have strong administrative capabilities.
• Communicate effectively.

Key Responsibilities

The successful learnership candidate will be involved in the following tasks:

• Monitor drivers' adherence to planned routes using the Daily Route Management (DRM) system.
• Escalate events such as unauthorised stops, speeding, excessive idling, entering no-go zones, or harsh braking to relevant managers.
• Monitor stop Turn Around Time (TAT’s) and report on delivery delays, escalating issues to relevant managers.
• Track and compare planned vs. actual kilometres, hours, driving time, and standing time.
• Ensure compliance with route sequences based on planned versus actual data.
• Assist with vehicle to route assignments and route allocation handovers.
• Handover open calls and queries to the next shift.
• Monitor the DRM system and review DRM reports for driver debriefings.
• Escalate any incorrect "geo-fencing" and monitor inactive routes, acknowledging non-reporting units.
• Extract daily, weekly, and monthly reports for the Project Manager.

What the Work Involves

This learnership places you at the heart of Clover's Secondary Distribution department at their Atlas branches. Your day-to-day work will largely involve monitoring and managing the efficiency of driver operations through the Daily Route Management (DRM) system. You will be responsible for tracking various data points related to routes, driver behaviour, and delivery timelines.

You will play a critical role in identifying deviations from planned schedules or policies, such as unauthorised stops or delays, and escalating these issues to the relevant managers. The role requires careful attention to detail for report generation and ensuring smooth operational handovers between shifts, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the distribution network.
