Opportunity Overview
The Western Cape Provincial Treasury is inviting applications for the role of Deputy Director: Supporting and Interlinked Financial Systems. This is a significant opportunity for a skilled professional to contribute to the province's financial governance.
The successful candidate will play a key role in managing the province's financial systems, ensuring their security, and establishing critical policies and standards that ensure compliance across these vital operations. This position is based within the Provincial Treasury of the Western Cape Government.
Minimum Requirements
- An appropriate 3-year tertiary qualification (National Diploma/B-Degree or higher) in Financial Management/Accounting/Supply Chain Management, Public Administration/Management/Information Technology.
- A minimum of 3 years of management level experience.
- Knowledge and working experience in relevant legislation, regulatory frameworks, policies, and best practices.
- Familiarity with information systems for managing knowledge and information related to the line function.
- Experience in project management, operational management practices, procurement, and tendering processes.
- Understanding of policy development, operational management, monitoring, and review processes.
- Knowledge of modern systems of governance and administration, public service procedures, processes, and systems.
- Familiarity with the regional and local political, economic, and social affairs impacting the provincial government of the Western Cape.
- Understanding of Constitutional, legal, and institutional arrangements governing the South African public sector.
- Knowledge of public finance, human resources, and discourse management processes, including the Public Finance Management Act, National and Provincial Treasury Regulations, and other financial policies and prescripts.
- Familiarity with the functioning of the province and activities of related functional areas/sister departments.
- Knowledge and understanding of government policies, Labour Relations legislation and regulations, and performance management.

- Oversee the establishment and maintenance of uniform systems policies, norms, and standards.
- Implement governance mechanisms and reporting processes to enforce compliance for financial systems.
