Opportunity Overview
The Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness invites applications for a Senior Registrar (Medical) in Cardiology, offered as a 3-year contract position. This significant role provides an opportunity to contribute to the province's healthcare system, primarily based at Groote Schuur Hospital in Observatory, with required rotations across various health facilities, including George Provincial Hospital.
This position comes with a competitive annual salary of R1,395,528, with the possibility of structuring a portion of the package to suit individual needs. Minimum Requirements
- An appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Specialist.
- Current registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Specialist (Independent Practice) in Medicine.
- Ability and willingness to participate in remunerated commuted overtime, as this is a compulsory requirement of the job.
- Demonstrated knowledge appropriate for the investigation of common cardiovascular disorders.
- Experience in the facilitation of management systems.
- Proficiency in effective and efficient administration.
- Strong communication skills, including report generation, letter writing, and patient consultation.
- Clinical skills expected of a Medical Specialist Physician, covering assessment, diagnosis, and treatment in inpatient, outpatient, and emergency settings.
- Preference will be given to South African citizens.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide Clinical Governance and Administration services.
- Deliver comprehensive Clinical Service Provision.
- Undertake Research essential for the fulfilment of an MPhil Degree.
- Engage in Teaching and Training/Supervision of Junior Staff.
- Function across various health facilities, including rotations at Metro West and Rural East hospitals such as Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital, New Somerset Hospital, Mitchells Plein District Hospital, Victoria Hospital, and George Provincial Hospital.
