Opportunity Overview

The University of Kwazulu Natal (UKZN), specifically its College of Law and Management Studies, Graduate School of Business & Leadership (GSB&L), is seeking a Director: Business Engagement and Executive Education. This senior leadership role focuses on shaping and driving the School’s executive education and short course enterprise.

The appointed individual will provide strategic leadership for the entire executive education portfolio, aiming to position the GSB&L as a premier provider of executive learning locally and regionally. This is a five (5) year fixed term appointment based at the Westville Campus.

Minimum Requirements

• A relevant Master’s Degree.
• A minimum of ten years’ experience in a training or education industry.
• Significant experience, a minimum of five years, of growing a training business through concluding successful collaborations.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for the entire executive education portfolio.
• Cultivate and steward partnerships with business, government, and industry.
• Serve as the School’s principal ambassador in external engagements.
• Identify opportunities, negotiate collaborations, and convert relationships into sustainable, high-impact programmes.
• Oversee the full lifecycle of executive education and short course provision, including programme design, client engagement, faculty coordination, and quality assurance.
• Lead the business development and sales functions of the executive education unit.
• Set revenue targets and guide market strategy for the School’s portfolio.
• Strengthen the School’s integration with the wider University, establishing links with Colleges to expand executive education services.
• Contribute to fulfilling Senate and Council mandates related to external engagement, academic quality, and income generation.
