Minimum Requirements

• Must be a South African Citizen.
• A relevant Bachelor’s Degree in: Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Transport and Logistics, Procurement, Operations Management, Accounting Finance or a related field.
• A postgraduate qualification is preferred.
• An average grade of 75% or higher.
• A valid Driver’s license and own transport will be advantageous.
• Skills and Competencies:
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, especially in data analysis and reporting.
• Capable of working independently and in teams, with a proactive and curious approach.
• High integrity and professionalism, especially in handling sensitive data and negotiations.
• Positive attitude and enthusiasm for learning in a fast-paced procurement environment.
• Willingness to adapt in a fast-moving environment and contribute to various aspects of the procurement process.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct research on suppliers.
• Prepare Requests for Quotation (RFQs).
• Analyse pricing and contract terms to support sourcing initiatives.
• Assist in spend analysis and market research to identify cost-saving opportunities and enhance supplier value.
• Participate in supplier management and relationship-building efforts, gaining insights into sustainable procurement practices.
• Provide data analysis, reporting, and documentation support for procurement activities.
• Engage in project-based learning with guidance from mentors and coaches to deepen understanding of procurement’s strategic role.

What the Work Involves

As a Procurement Intern at Unitrans, you will be actively involved in various aspects of strategic procurement. Your daily tasks may include researching potential suppliers, preparing formal requests for quotations, and meticulously analysing pricing and contract terms to support new sourcing initiatives.

You will contribute to identifying cost-saving opportunities and enhancing supplier value by assisting with spend analysis and market research. The role also involves participating in efforts to manage and build relationships with suppliers, offering insights into sustainable procurement practices.
