Opportunity Overview

The Tshwane Automotive Special Economic Zone (TASEZ) is seeking a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for a 5-year fixed-term contract. This pivotal role involves providing visionary, ethical, and strategic leadership to TASEZ, ensuring the achievement of its mandate to drive South Africa's automotive manufacturing and industrial development.

The CEO is accountable to the Board of Directors for developing and executing the organisation's strategy. This includes driving investment attraction, industrialisation, infrastructure development, operational excellence, and financial sustainability. The role is critical in positioning TASEZ as a globally competitive, investor-focused Special Economic Zone that fosters sustainable economic growth, job creation, and value for investors, government, and the surrounding communities.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• A relevant postgraduate qualification (NQF Level 8) in fields such as Business Administration, Economics, Commerce, Engineering, or Development Planning.
• A Master's degree (MBA or equivalent) (NQF 9) is considered advantageous, as it demonstrates advanced strategic, financial, and organisational leadership capability crucial for this complex role.

• Providing strategic direction and leadership to ensure organisational goals are achieved through effective planning, execution, and performance management.

• Maintaining strong governance systems, managing risk effectively, and ensuring full compliance with relevant laws, policies, and regulations.

• Improving operational efficiency and service delivery through streamlined processes, productivity improvements, and continuous improvement.

What the Work Involves

As the Chief Executive Officer, you will lead the strategic execution of TASEZ's mandate, overseeing significant investment, managing large-scale infrastructure projects, and ensuring robust financial health. Day-to-day, this involves providing overall leadership to implement strategic, corporate, and annual performance plans, fostering a high-performance culture, and engaging constantly with a diverse array of internal teams and external partners.

You will serve as the principal representative of TASEZ, building and maintaining strategic partnerships with government, shareholders, investors, industry stakeholders, development partners, and local communities. The role entails a strong focus on sound corporate governance, prudent financial management, enterprise risk management, and compliance. You will be accountable to the Board of Directors, working within an environment dedicated to transforming South Africa's automotive manufacturing and industrial landscape.
