Opportunity Overview

Transnet Engineering is seeking a dedicated Cyber Security Specialist to join their team in Kilner Park. This permanent position involves safeguarding Transnet Engineering's digital environment from evolving cyber threats.

The role focuses on providing essential security support, including monitoring, analysing, detecting, and mitigating threats. It also involves identifying and addressing vulnerabilities to protect information and establishing security controls to minimise exposure to cyber risks.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor organisational networks and Operating Technologies (OT) for security breaches and investigate/remediate violations.
• Analyse and utilise software and data encryption programs to protect sensitive information.
• Support the Transnet Engineering ICT infrastructure department and provide advice to provincial ICT centres.
• Conduct penetration testing to identify system vulnerabilities.
• Possess in-depth technical knowledge of Microsoft Azure and other cloud platforms administration.
• Research the latest IT security trends and recommend enhancements to management or senior ICT staff.
• Participate in technical disaster recovery plan testing.
• Assist in system security implementations, including problem identification, isolation, and resolution for Network (LAN/Wireless) Physical ICT infrastructure.
• Maintain in-depth technical knowledge of Office 365, Microsoft Azure infrastructure management, and Huawei Cloud Stack.
• Review security in existing technologies and propose improved solutions through a continuous improvement programme.
• Collaborate with Information Infrastructure/Security specialists from Transnet Group ICT to propose architecture changes.
• Establish relationships with business representatives and key external information risk, security, governance, and compliance bodies.
• Monitor escalations, oversee incident and request completion, provide expert problem management support, and conduct root cause analysis.
• Conduct studies to ensure compliance of the Transnet Information Security Framework with laws, regulations, standards, and industry security norms.
• Develop and maintain a project security risk template for assessing security resource needs on new/existing projects within Transnet Engineering.
• Facilitate the rollout of the project security template to all projects within the group.
• Provide detailed security design and facilitate its implementation for all projects based on risk assessment.
• Develop/update Information Security related policies and standards for existing or new complex technologies.
• Provide input into the development and maintenance of strategies, policies, and standards for Information Security, Business Continuance, and IT Risk & Compliance.
