Opportunity Overview

The State Information Technology Agency (SITA) is inviting applications for a Senior Software Developer role, specialising in Natural Adabas. This is a significant opportunity to join SITA in Centurion and contribute to the enhancement and maintenance of critical government software systems.

This position is a 60-month fixed-term contract, where you will lead the design, implementation, debugging, documentation, release, and maintenance of software-based solutions. Your work will directly support government operations by writing code and enhancing software/systems in line with ICT standards and enterprise architecture.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education:
  • Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent.
  • Preferred: 3-year National Higher Diploma/ Bachelor's degree in ICT (Computer Science, Information Systems, Technology, and Engineering) or a related field, OR a Natural/Adabas training certificate.
  • Experience:
  • 6-7 years’ experience with the full software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • A minimum of 5 years actively using Natural Adabas in a development and/or maintenance role within a large corporate or public sector organisation.
  • Experience must include solution analysis, design, development, implementation, and maintenance of systems.
  • Experience must also include managing and planning deliverables and communication with clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform software systems coding assignments.
  • Provide supervision to the Software development team.
  • Offer maintenance and enhancement support for existing systems.
  • Oversee the implementation, debugging, documentation, and release of software solutions.
  • Lead the design and development of new features for software systems and improve existing ones.
