The Standard Bank Group Bursary Programme is dedicated to fostering academic excellence and developing the next generation of African talent and leaders. This opportunity is available for both undergraduate and postgraduate students who meet specific criteria.

The undergraduate bursary supports students who are successfully completing their first year of study and require financial assistance from their second year onwards. For postgraduate students, Standard Bank Group offers full-cost bursaries to academically strong and financially deserving individuals pursuing postgraduate studies up to Master's level. The bursary covers comprehensive costs including university fees, accommodation (either university residence or private, subject to limits), meals, books, and other essential study materials. Successful candidates will also receive a laptop computer, a monthly stipend for living expenses, and transport between home and campus four times a year at the cost of a bus ticket.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered for a Standard Bank Group Bursary:

General Requirements for all Applicants:

  • You must be studying full-time at a recognised and accredited public tertiary institution in South Africa.
  • You must have a strong academic record.
  • You must have achieved a minimum overall average of 65% in your most recent examinations.
  • You must be in financial need.

  • Engineering
  • Mathematics
  • Science (Actuarial, Analytics, Business, Computer, Data, Information)

Specific Requirements for Undergraduate Students:

  • You must have completed Matric.
  • You must be studying towards an undergraduate qualification in one of the fields listed above.
  • You must be entering your 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of study in 2027.

Specific Requirements for Postgraduate Students:

  • You must be studying full-time towards a postgraduate qualification (up to Master’s level) in one of the fields listed above.
