Opportunity Overview
The South African Revenue Services (SARS) is seeking a dedicated SAP Functional Specialist to join its Strategy Enabling and Modernisation Division in Brooklyn, Pretoria. This pivotal role involves providing expert support to clients in analysing complex requirements, configuring systems, and implementing and maintaining various SAP modules.

Minimum Requirements
- Option 1:
- Bachelor's Degree / Advanced Diploma (NQF 7) in IT, Finance, or a similar field.
- 5–7 years' experience in SAP Functional Financial Accounting and Management Accounting (FICO).
- Of the above, 2–3 years must be at a functional specialist level.
- Option 2 (Alternative):
- Senior Certificate (NQF 4).
- Relevant IT Qualification(s) / Certification(s).
- At least 10 years’ experience in SAP Functional Financial Accounting and Management Accounting (FICO).
- Of the above, 2–3 years must be at a functional specialist level.
- General Functional Requirements:
- Applicable degree or equivalent NQF 7: Information Tech, Computer Science, B-Com, Finance, Management, Engineering, or related.
- At least 5 years SAP experience and knowledge of key integration points between SAP modules.
- Minimum of 2 years at functional specialist level.
- SAP FICO analysis, design configuration experience.
- SAP FICO functional training or certification.
- SAP Financial Accounting and Management Accounting Configuration Skills.
- Added Advantage:
- Experience in S4HANA.
- Experience in SAP Flexible Real Estate Management.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform high-complexity tasks during the implementation and support of various SAP modules.
- Carry out high-complexity assignments requiring the development of new or improved procedures.
- Analyse requirements, perform configuration enhancements, and conduct testing in SAP modules such as Finance, Human Resources, Procurement, Revenue Management, and cloud solutions.
- Analyse current business processes and client scenarios to recommend and develop solutions.
- Support the successful implementation of SAP applications, providing development expertise and advice on SAP products.
- Perform in-depth analysis of client business processes and scenarios to recommend or configure solutions according to industry best practices.
- Act as a liaison with clients for troubleshooting, investigating, analysing, and solving SAP-related application problems.
- Map client business requirements, processes, and objectives, and develop necessary product modifications.
- Resolve severity 2 and 3 incidents and assist with business escalations.
- Observe and engage on possible violations of procedures and standards, escalating where necessary.
- Execute specialist input through investigation and identification of opportunities within the product process, including risk concerns.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of the organisation and adhere to all organisational standards.
- Take accountability for the delivery of contracted work outputs within agreed parameters, quality standards, and client service targets.
- Apply practical and applied knowledge on methods, systems, and procedures to identify trends and potential risks.
- Communicate situational interpretation and judgement of work outputs and queries in the area of specialisation.
- Correctly apply policies, practices, standards, procedures, and legislation in the delivery of work outputs.

As an SAP Functional Specialist at SARS, you will work from the Brooklyn, Pretoria office, reporting directly to the Manager: SAP Functional (FICO).
