Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Possess a Matric certificate.
  • Have 0 to 1 year of experience as a Receptionist or Client/Customer Services personnel.
  • Hold a Customer Service/Relations certificate.
  • Have prior experience working in an office environment.
  • Demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exhibit strong interpersonal relations skills.
  • Be able to handle difficult customers effectively.
  • Possess the ability to screen calls and prioritise them accordingly.
  • Be capable of providing basic information to callers.
  • Show an ability to handle pressure and multi-task efficiently.
  • Be computer literate.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of duties, including:

  • Ensuring the professional management of the front desk at all times.
  • Coordinating logistics and boardroom meetings as requested by units.
  • Providing secretarial support through the administration of records, and collecting and forwarding correct information to staff.
  • Enhancing, organising, facilitating, and managing external and internal calls and messages from visitors.
  • Screening incoming calls effectively.
  • Assisting and supporting other stakeholders and municipalities with information regarding their queries.
  • Establishing an independent reporting mechanism for frontline tasks.
  • Assisting with access control for entry into the SALGA office.
  • Monitoring and managing visitors at the front desk.
  • Capturing and sending all telephone messages to staff members using the Electronic Messaging System.
  • Updating and monitoring the telephone list.
