Opportunity Overview
The South African Government has issued Circular 32 of 2026, announcing various employment opportunities across numerous national and provincial departments. This initiative includes a range of learnerships and internships designed to provide valuable experience and skills development within the public service.
Opportunities are available in a wide array of sectors, with participating departments including Agriculture, Defence, Employment and Labour, Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, Home Affairs, Treasury, Public Works and Infrastructure, Social Development, Tourism, and many more. Provincial administrations across all nine provinces — including Free State, Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, Northern Cape, and Western Cape — are also participating.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for these opportunities, applicants must ensure their submission includes:
- A duly completed Z83 form, which can be downloaded in PDF or editable format, or obtained from any Public Service Department.
- A recent, updated, and comprehensive Curriculum Vitae (CV).
- Certified copies of all qualifications and academic record.
- A certified copy of your Identity Document (ID).
- Applicants with foreign qualifications are responsible for having them evaluated by the South African Qualification Authority (SAQA).
- Candidates must be available for selection interviews and assessments at a time, date, and place determined by the respective Department.
- Failure to submit the requested documents or information will lead to your application not being considered.

What a learnership actually is
A learnership is a structured programme registered with a SETA under the Skills Development Act 97 of 1998. It is not a job with training attached — it is a qualification you earn by doing the work. You sign a three-party agreement between yourself, the employer and the accredited training provider, alongside a fixed-term employment contract that lasts as long as the programme does.
How learnerships work: the week, the qualification and where it leads →Watch out for this
A legitimate learnership never charges you. If anyone asks for a registration, placement or administration fee, it is not a learnership — report it. You can confirm that a programme is registered by contacting the relevant SETA directly.
