The Housing Development Agency (HDA) is offering a 6-month fixed-term contract opportunity for a Temporary Assistant Town Planner based in North West. This role is crucial in supporting the HDA's mandate to identify, assess, and plan for human settlement developments across the region.

As an Assistant Town Planner, you will contribute to various stages of land acquisition and development. This includes researching suitable land, conducting detailed suitability assessments, and providing essential support for development applications to ensure successful housing projects.

Minimum Requirements

  • A relevant diploma or degree in Town Planning.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience within the built environment.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of deeds information.
  • Experience in the compilation of Spatial Plans, such as Upgrading Master Plans or PDA Development Plans.
  • Knowledge of GIS and AutoCAD or related spatial information systems is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of human settlements development is an advantage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement criteria for identifying appropriate land and properties for the HDA.
  • Collect statistical data and prepare reports and maps related to land use and census information.
  • Collate and compile land record information to support land identification for human settlement developments.
  • Research opportunities and assess the viability of land in line with HDA criteria and strategy.
  • Engage with stakeholders regarding pre-identified land.
  • Assess land potential based on approved pre-acquisition feasibility models, including geotechnical, land use, environmental, financial, infrastructure, and development potential assessments.
  • Draft layout plans to support land release requests from government departments.
  • Develop planning studies and reports to support the HDA land acquisition programme.
  • Conduct field evaluations and assessments.
  • Provide support and information for the submission of development applications.
  • Manage the land use management process for the HDA.
  • Evaluate or assist in the evaluation of rezoning, statutory applications, site plans, and other town planning related plans and policies.
