Opportunity Overview

The Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport is seeking a Deputy Director to manage a Centre within its Transport Branch. This key role involves overseeing operations related to the NaTIS system, vehicle and driver licensing, and, where applicable, vehicle testing stations.

This position is based in Kagiso and offers an opportunity to contribute to public service by ensuring efficient management of licensing and vehicle testing processes. The successful candidate will play a vital role in upholding service delivery standards within the department.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this Deputy Director position, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• NQF level 6/7 qualification in Public Administration, Public Management, Finance, BA Licencing, Transport Management, or Traffic Management.
• Must be in possession of Examiner of Driving License, Examiner of Motor Vehicles, or NaTIS Certificates.
• 3-5 years of experience at an Assistant Director Level.
• A valid Driver’s License.
• Knowledge of GPG and GPDRT policies and procedures, relevant legislation, and Public Service Regulations.
• Understanding of customer expectations and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
• Knowledge of GPG political and executive structures, NRTA, BCEA, PSA, LRA, PFMA, POPIA, and PAJA.
• Competency in Community Relations, Stakeholder Relationship Management, Research, Computer Utilisation, Financial Management, and Business Performance Management.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of duties, including:

• Managing the NaTIS system for processing and issuing Motor Vehicle and Driver Licenses, and managing Vehicle Testing Stations where they exist.
• Ensuring the execution of routine maintenance projects for the Centre.
• Overseeing routine maintenance of calibration machines and test yard markings.
• Conducting regular staff meetings within the centre.
• Assisting with the resolution of complaints and concerns from staff and the public.
• Monitoring the execution of projects and contracts in accordance with best practice standards, timeframes, quality, and budget.
• Managing and monitoring documents and records within the Provincial Registering Authority Centre.
• Managing the budget of the Provincial Registering Authority Centre.
• Providing input into the compilation and administration of the annual budget.
