Opportunity Overview

First National Bank (FNB) is offering FirstJob Learnerships for 2026. This learnership programme provides a development role where individuals will complete a formal, registered qualification while simultaneously gaining valuable work experience within the bank.

Learners will be responsible for executing predefined work objectives, including tasks related to research, analysis, administration, process, and project work that contribute to the business area. Alongside the formal qualification, additional work-related training will be provided to support their growth and development.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this learnership, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Must have a Grade 12 / Matric certificate.
  • Be computer literate, with proficiency in MS Office.
  • No prior work experience is required.
  • Must be a South African citizen.
  • Be between the ages of 18 and 35.
  • Must currently be unemployed.

Key Responsibilities

As a Learner, you will be expected to:

  • Identify and escalate potential risks that could lead to increased costs.
  • Demonstrate cost consciousness and awareness of your personal contribution to costs.
  • Increase knowledge and understanding of financial processes and adhere to required operating standards.
  • Adhere to the Organisation's shared values, service standards, and Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) outcomes in customer interactions.
  • Resolve customer dissatisfaction/complaints and take ownership of the problem.
  • Communicate with customers according to agreed standards.
  • Collect customer feedback to help improve customer service.
  • Ensure that product knowledge and advice provided are technically accurate.
  • Work with enhanced processes and procedures to maintain operational efficiencies.
  • Ensure that quality standards are adhered to.
  • Adhere to Company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate activity reports.
  • Investigate innovative ways to optimise processes.
  • Contribute to the alignment of business processes to customer service.
  • Advise line management on potential opportunities for process and system improvements.
  • Contribute to the team by working together to achieve team goals.
  • Share information and knowledge that will benefit the team.
  • Identify effective activities to address own development gaps.
  • Create your own development plan and review it with your team leader.
  • Understand which competencies and skills should be mastered to ensure personal development and performance.
