Opportunity Overview
The Department of Employment and Labour is seeking a dedicated individual for the role of Deputy Director in Information and Communication, based at their Head Office in Pretoria. This position offers an opportunity to play a vital role in managing the department's information and communication technology infrastructure and strategy.
This is a key leadership position focused on ensuring robust ICT systems, efficient telecommunications, and strong cybersecurity measures within the department. The Department aims to give priority to African males and females, Coloured males and females, Indian females, and People with Disabilities in line with its Employment Equity targets.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- A qualification at NQF Level 6 in Information and Communication Technology, Computer Science, or Information Science, as recognised by SAQA.
- Five (5) years of functional experience within an ICT or IT environment.
- Knowledge of:
- Public Finance Management Act
- Technical standards and procedures
- Departmental Policies and procedures
- Basic Conditions of Employment Act
- Batho Pele principles
- Skills in:
- Communications
- Analytical thinking
- Process improvement
- Strategic Management
- Leadership
- Innovative thinking
- Transmission and propagation
- Understanding Modulation schemes
- Data representation and protocols
- Added advantages: Cobit/ ITIL Fundamentals, CCNA, CompTIA Security+, Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), and CompTIA CySA+.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of critical duties, including:
- Establishing and implementing processes and procedures related to ICT Strategy and technical policy matters.
- Managing and supporting the telecommunications environment within the department.
- Managing the national integrated voice network (VOIP) for both landline and cell phones.
- Designing, implementing, and managing shared data, Access Point Network (APN), and Mobile Networks.
- Managing cybersecurity operations across the Department.
- Managing all resources allocated to the Sub-Directorate.
