Department of Public Service and Administration Audit and Risk Committee Chairperson Vacancy 2026

Opportunity Overview

The Department of Public Service and Administration (DPSA), in conjunction with the Centre for Public Service Innovation (CPSI), invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced professionals to serve as the Shared Audit and Risk Committee Chairperson for a three-year contract period.

This role is for an independent contractor, not an employee of the Department. Remuneration will be provided in accordance with National Treasury Regulations for preparation and attendance of meetings. The Department aims to promote representivity and will give preference to applicants from designated groups, especially people with disabilities.

Minimum Requirements

• A three-year tertiary or equivalent qualification in Accounting, Auditing, Risk Management, or Law.
• Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) or an equivalent professional qualification in a relevant field.
• Over ten years of executive management experience in risk management, control, or governance within the public service or government sector.
• Demonstrable exposure in Risk Management, Governance, Audit, Financial Management, Law, and Organizational Performance Management.
• Knowledge and understanding of Government prescripts and processes.
• Applicants must be independent and knowledgeable.
• Non-South African citizens must provide proof of permanent residence in South Africa.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Chairing the Shared Audit and Risk Committee.
• Providing strategic oversight and guidance on risk management, control, and governance matters.
• Applying expertise in audit, financial management, and organizational performance management.
• Ensuring adherence to government prescripts and processes.
