  • Knowledge of basic financial operating systems (e.g., PERSAL, BAS, LOGIS).
  • Knowledge of working procedures and legislative framework governing the Public Service.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities will vary depending on the chosen role:

Supply Chain Management Clerk

  • Render acquisition clerical support, including updating and maintaining a supplier database.
  • Register suppliers on the Supply Chain (Logis) System.
  • Receive and request quotations.
  • Capture specifications on the electronic purchasing system.
  • Issue and receive bid documents.
  • Provide secretariat or logistical support during bid consideration and contract conclusion processes.
  • Place orders for goods, receive and verify goods from suppliers.
  • Capture goods in registers/databases.
  • Receive requests for goods from end-users and maintain goods registers.
  • Update and maintain the register of suppliers.
  • Render assets management clerical support.
  • Compile and maintain asset records/databases.
  • Check and issue furniture, equipment, and stationery to business units.
  • Identify redundant, non-serviceable, and obsolete equipment for disposal.
  • Assist in conducting stocktaking according to the stocktaking plan.
  • Verify the asset register.

Accounting Clerk

  • Render financial accounting transactions, including receiving, checking, verifying, and approving invoices.
  • Process invoices (e.g., capture payments).
  • Perform salary administration support services, receiving and processing salary advices (e.g., checking for correctness, capturing salaries, bonuses, adjustments, and deductions).
  • Filing of documents.
  • Perform bookkeeping support services, including capturing all financial transactions.
  • Clear suspense accounts and record debtors and creditors.
  • Process electronic banking transactions and compile journals.
  • Render internal control, performing activities to improve the control environment of payments for completeness and accuracy.
  • Develop, update, and maintain an effective filing system/system control for the Directorate.
