Opportunity Overview
Correctional Services is seeking a dedicated individual for the role of Director: Facilities Fund Management. This position is based at the National Head Office in Pretoria. It offers a significant opportunity for an experienced manager to contribute to the robust financial administration of various departmental funds.
The successful candidate will be instrumental in overseeing the sound financial management of members’ interests, supporting regional clubs, and managing the critical widow and orphan fund, among others. This role involves ensuring compliance with departmental policies, effective risk management, and the continuous modernisation of financial operations.
Minimum Requirements
- An undergraduate qualification (NQF level 7) as recognised by SAQA in Public Administration / Business Management / Administration / Business Administration or an equivalent field.
- A certificate for entry into the Senior Management Services (SMS) obtained from the National School of Government (NSG) is compulsory (required from all applicants prior to appointment).
- Five (5) years of experience at a middle/senior managerial level in a similar environment.
- Computer literate.
- Valid driver’s licence.
Key Responsibilities
- Effectively manage members’ financial and other interests by ensuring sound financial management of the fund.
- Assist regions in the establishment of clubs and setting up trading points.
- Effectively manage the widow and orphan fund.
- Manage the Protea–Karridene agreement and fund modernisation projects.
- Continuously ensure compliance with all departmental policies, rules, and regulations affecting the fund.
- Implement effective risk management to ensure compliance with the risk management plan.
- Efficiently and effectively manage the national sport fund and interest-free study loans.
- Report on a quarterly basis to the board of trustees on the funds’ strategic issues and developments.
- Ensure that treasurers are trained on applicable finance systems/software and general financial management.
- Manage performance information.
- Manage human resources, finances, and assets.
