Successful candidates will play a crucial part in the decision-making processes for offenders, ensuring the objective and fair application of release policies. The position also involves facilitating the reintegration of offenders into the community after their release.

The term of office for this opportunity is for a period of five years. This is a chance to apply your expertise and experience in community development or criminal justice to make a tangible difference.

Minimum Requirements

  • A recognised degree or national diploma in one of the following fields: Criminal Justice, Community Development, Social Science, Policing, or a Human Rights related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in community development work and/or Criminal Justice.
  • Previous experience in a decision-making capacity will be an advantage.
  • Retired professionals are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend and participate in decision-making roles during Parole Board hearings.
  • Act as a facilitator for the community reintegration process for offenders.
  • Protect the interests of the community, offenders, and the state.
  • Ensure the objective and fair application of release policy.
  • Perform ad-hoc tasks as determined by the Parole Board.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding Parole Board meetings, decisions, and documentation.

What you'll need to apply

Send only the Z83 and your CV. Attaching certified copies now is not required, and an incomplete Z83 is the single commonest reason applications are rejected.

What this kind of post involves

A permanent post is ongoing employment with no end date, carrying full benefits and, in the public service, a defined salary level with annual notch progression. These are advertised competitively and the selection process is considerably more formal than for programme placements.

Watch out for this

The screening is mechanical and happens before anyone reads your CV: the advert’s own application instructions are applied as written, and an incomplete or unsigned form is discarded whatever the rest of the application says.
