Opportunity Overview

Cooperative Governance is inviting applications for the position of Deputy Director: Planning and Reporting, based in Pretoria. This key role is central to the department's strategic operations, focusing on the development and coordination of planning frameworks and comprehensive reporting.

The successful candidate will contribute to ensuring the department's objectives are clearly defined, progress is meticulously tracked, and performance is reported accurately. This is an opportunity for experienced professionals to apply their expertise in a dynamic government environment.

Minimum Requirements

  • 3-Year National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree (NQF Level 6/7) in Business Management, Development Studies, Public Administration, Public Management, or an equivalent qualification recognised by SAQA.
  • 3-5 years of experience in strategic planning and reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages, including MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Teams, MS Excel, and Outlook.
  • A valid driver’s licence.
  • Generic Competencies: Planning and Organising, Coordination, Problem Solving & Decision Making, Project Management, People Management & Empowerment, Client Orientation & Customer Focus, Team Leadership, Diversity Management, Communication (Verbal & Written), Interpersonal Skills, and Financial Management.
  • Technical Competencies: In-depth knowledge and understanding of Legislation Governing Planning, Monitoring, and Reporting; Data Collection, Data Analysis and Report Writing; Research methodology; Strategic Planning and Reporting processes; Annual Operational Plan; Audit and risk action plans; and Preparation of minutes for Quarterly Review meetings.

Key Responsibilities

The Deputy Director will be responsible for:

  • Facilitating the development of the Strategic Plan and the Annual Performance Plan.
  • Coordinating and facilitating the development of the departmental Annual Operational Plan.
  • Compiling Quarterly Performance Reports.
  • Coordinating and facilitating the development of the Annual Report.
  • Compiling various strategic reports, including the Handover Report, Mid-Term Assessment Report, Strategic End-Term Report, and departmental MTDP Progress Reports.
