Opportunity Overview

The Department of Communication and Digital Technologies is seeking a dedicated professional for the permanent role of Director: Human Resource Planning and Administration. This is a key leadership position within the department, responsible for overseeing crucial HR functions that support the entire workforce.

Based in Pretoria, Hatfield, this role offers an opportunity to contribute significantly to human capital management within a government setting. The successful candidate will be instrumental in shaping HR strategies and ensuring efficient administrative processes.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this Director-level position, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • An appropriate NQF level 7 Degree in Human Resource Management, Industrial Psychology, Labour Relations, Business Management, Public Administration, or a relevant equivalent qualification recognised by the South African Qualifications Authority. An Honours degree is an added advantage.
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a Human Capital Management environment at the middle or senior management level.

Key Responsibilities

The Director: Human Resource Planning and Administration will manage and drive the provision of comprehensive HR planning and administration services. Key duties include:

  • Managing and driving the design, maintenance, and implementation of HR planning, administration, and employment equity policies, plans, systems, guidelines, procedures, processes, and their governance.
  • Leading initiatives and processes to enhance employee experience by monitoring the delivery of effective and efficient human resource planning and administration services from talent attraction to off-boarding.
  • Overseeing the administration of employee information management systems, providing insights and trends for data-driven HR reporting and decision-making.
  • Managing and driving processes to define long-term and mid-term HR and Employment Equity plans aligned with business planning cycles and broader business strategy.
  • Monitoring the implementation of total rewards and employee attendance policies, processes, and systems, providing reporting for continuous improvement.
  • Managing, maintaining, and coordinating the review and design of HR delegations of authority and personnel records.
  • Recommending and driving opportunities to enhance improvement and performance within HR functions.
  • Managing and driving HR planning, administration, and employment equity initiatives to support business priorities, foster innovation, and enhance business processes.
  • Contributing to strategic functional leadership, human resource management, and financial management.
