The Coega Development Corporation (CDC) is inviting applications for a permanent Finance Manager within its Operations Unit, specifically for the Vulindlela Accommodation and Conference Centre (VACC) and the Blue Water Bay Hotel (BWBH) in Gqeberha.

This critical role involves taking full responsibility for developing and implementing all aspects of financial management for these two hospitality venues. The successful candidate will be key in managing financial accounting and internal control systems and activities, ensuring the smooth and efficient financial operation of VACC and BWBH.

Minimum Requirements

  • Educational Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree (NQF 7) in Commerce / Finance with majors in Accounting / Taxation / Management Accounting / Auditing, or an equivalent related field.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Financial Manager or within a Financial Management environment.
  • Proven experience in financial accounting responsibilities.
  • Hands-on experience in presenting financial information to management.
  • Experience in residential property management or hospitality is preferred.
  • Competencies & Skills:
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Knowledge of Supply Chain Management (SCM) policies and regulations in the public sector.
  • Highly analytical with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Results-driven approach.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel.
  • Professional registration will be an advantage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, set up, and maintain financial systems and procedures to ensure proper accounting and internal control.
  • Lead the divisional budget preparation processes for mid-year and annual budgets.
  • Compile and submit monthly financial management reports to operations management.
  • Ensure timeous processing, reconciliation, and reporting of financial information.
  • Maintain up-to-date cash flow projections for the current accounting year.
  • Provide input into financial policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to the development of effective risk management for VACC and BWBH.
  • Manage and control the financial aspects of the Wage Bureau payroll.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, relevant laws, and regulations.
  • Manage the release of payments.
  • Develop and manage debt collection systems in accordance with policy.
  • Conduct effective engagements with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Negotiate the availability of funds when budgets are unavailable.
  • Conduct service negotiations for key supplier accounts and resolve queries.
  • Co-ordinate the preparation and submission of divisional quarterly reports.
  • Conduct ongoing risk management.
  • Manage subordinate staff, including staff development, performance management, and participation in recruitment.

What the Work Involves

As the Finance Manager for the Vulindlela Accommodation and Conference Centre and the Blue Water Bay Hotel in Gqeberha, you will be deeply involved in the day-to-day financial health of these hospitality venues. This means meticulously managing financial accounting, maintaining robust internal control systems, and overseeing budget preparation from conception to implementation. You will be responsible for cash flow projections, debt collection processes, and ensuring all financial activities comply with regulations and internal policies. The role requires a hands-on approach to reporting, with a focus on timely submissions to operations management and the broader Finance Business Unit. You will engage with various internal and external stakeholders, negotiate with suppliers, and play a pivotal role in risk management. Furthermore, you will lead and develop your finance team, fostering an environment conducive to achieving departmental objectives. This position operates within an office environment, integral to the operations of the accommodation and conference facilities.
