Opportunity Overview
Coastal KZN TVET College, an equal opportunity employer and a centre of excellence, invites applications for a Lecturer position in Carpentry at its Umlazi V-Campus. The college seeks individuals with integrity, good self-esteem, strict discipline, high moral values, and a dedication to teaching young people.
This role requires engagement in class teaching and learning, including academic, administration, and disciplinary aspects. The successful candidate will also organise extra co-curricular activities to ensure the proper promotion of learner education.
Minimum Requirements
- Relevant REQV 13, National Diploma backed by a professional qualification in Education.
- Must be a qualified assessor or have received assessor training.
- Sound communication and interpersonal skills.
- 3 years’ relevant experience.
- Extensive knowledge of carpentry theory and practice.
- Strong work ethic.
- Computer literacy.
- Registration with SACE.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage in class teaching that fosters a purposeful progression in learning, consistent with the learning areas and subject programmes.
- Serve as a class educator.
- Prepare lessons, incorporating orientation, regional courses, new approaches, techniques, evaluations, and teaching aids.
- Take on a leadership role in the subject, learning area, or phase, if required.
- Plan, coordinate, control, administer, evaluate, and report on learners’ academic progress.
- Recognise that learning is an active process and utilise various strategies to meet curriculum outcomes.
- Establish a classroom environment that stimulates positive learning and actively engages learners.
