Opportunity Overview

Coastal KZN TVET College, an equal opportunity employer and a centre of excellence, invites applications for a Lecturer position in Carpentry at its Umlazi V-Campus. This role requires engagement in class teaching and learning, including academic, administration, and disciplinary aspects. The successful candidate will also organise extra co-curricular activities to ensure the proper promotion of learner education.

Minimum Requirements

• Relevant REQV 13, National Diploma backed by a professional qualification in Education.
• Must be a qualified assessor or have received assessor training.
• Sound communication and interpersonal skills.
• 3 years’ relevant experience.
• Extensive knowledge of carpentry theory and practice.
• Strong work ethic.
• Computer literacy.
• Registration with SACE.

Key Responsibilities

• Engage in class teaching that fosters a purposeful progression in learning, consistent with the learning areas and subject programmes.
• Serve as a class educator.
• Prepare lessons, incorporating orientation, regional courses, new approaches, techniques, evaluations, and teaching aids.
• Take on a leadership role in the subject, learning area, or phase, if required.
• Plan, coordinate, control, administer, evaluate, and report on learners’ academic progress.
• Recognise that learning is an active process and utilise various strategies to meet curriculum outcomes.
• Establish a classroom environment that stimulates positive learning and actively engages learners.
