Opportunity Overview

The Civilian Secretariat for Police Service is offering an Accounting Clerk position based in Pretoria. This role provides an opportunity to contribute to financial accounting within a government environment, with a salary of R237,453 per annum.

The successful candidate will be involved in essential financial and administrative functions. Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 certificate or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of financial functions, data capturing, and collating financial statistics.
  • Basic knowledge of Public Financial Management legislation, procedures, and Treasury Regulations.
  • Knowledge of basic financial operating systems such as PERSAL, BAS, and LOGIS.
  • Understanding of working procedures within the public service environment and its legislative framework.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Planning and organizing skills.
  • Interpersonal and good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Time management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process financial accounting transactions, including receiving, verifying, and processing invoices.
  • Provide support for salary administration, such as processing salary advices and capturing salaries, bonuses, adjustments, and deductions.
  • File financial documents accurately.
  • Perform bookkeeping tasks, including capturing financial transactions, clearing suspense accounts, and managing debtors and creditors.
  • Handle electronic banking transactions and compile journals.
  • Support internal control functions to ensure payment completeness and accuracy.
  • Assist in identifying controls to minimise non-compliance.
  • Develop and maintain an effective filing and system control for the Directorate.
