This specific internship is for an Intern Valuer within the Group Finance Department, specifically the Property Branch (Valuation Services). It provides an opportunity to gain valuable experience in property valuation.
The programme is open to qualifying youth in Johannesburg communities for a period not exceeding 36 months, with a remuneration of R12,000 per month (basic salary, no benefits).
Minimum Requirements
- National Diploma or NQF Level 6 in Real Estate: Property Valuation, or a qualification recognised by the South African Council for the Property Valuers Profession (SACPVP).
- Qualification completed with a minimum of 360 credits.
- No prior experience required.
- Computer literacy, including spreadsheet and word processing skills.
- Valid registration with SACPVP as a Candidate Valuer.
- Valid driver’s license and own transport.
- Enrolment Confirmation letter from your institution.
- Must be a resident of the City of Johannesburg.
- Must not have participated in a previous internship programme, unless the previous programme was not relevant to your current course of study.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake tasks related to property valuations, including market research and assessing physical property attributes.
- Conduct fieldwork to gather information for property valuations, identifying and inspecting subject and comparable properties.
- Apply market value principles correctly in valuation processes.
- Assist in the compilation and maintenance of the City of Johannesburg’s General and Supplementary Valuation Rolls.
- Perform administrative functions as required.
- Operate as a technical expert on property valuation matters, fulfilling responsibilities delegated by the Municipal Valuer in terms of the MPRA 6 of 2004.
